Service for Teeny Tears - 11/22/2014

I cannot imagine being pregnant and the excitement of bringing new life into the world only to have a child born stillborn.  My heart breaks for anyone who has had to go through such suffering.

I was connected to Mandi Ray through my mom. Mandi shared her personal experience with the stillborn birth of her son with a group of incredible youth who are compassionate and wanted to participate in meaningful service.  Mandi obtained the requirements from Teeny Tears and these incredible youth purchased and prepared fabric before tracing, cutting out and sewing these tiny diapers for the benefit of families who have suffered the loss of a stillborn child.

Two diapers are made for each family - one to be placed on the stillborn child and the other to go home with the family as a remembrance of the child.

From Teeny Tears' website:
"Approximately 26,000 children are stillborn in the United States every year, about 1 in 160 births. A significant number of these angels are preemie or micropreemie infants.  Many of these angels are far too small for even the very smallest commercial diapers.
Teeny Tears is a service organization that provides tiny flannel diapers at no charge to hospitals and bereavement support organizations for families that have suffered the loss of a preemie or micropreemie child through stillbirth or NICU loss."

I was honored to be invited and included in this service event in helping these youth make  flannel diapers to provide love and support for the families suffering such difficult loss.
Thank you to these incredible young ladies for their service and for Mandi Ray opening up her heart and sharing her experience to enable the youth to truly make a difference in the lives of others!

Sense and Sensibility - Jane Austin wedding photo shoot by Terra Cooper

I absolutely LOVE Danielle's Bridal.  The owner, Janet Larson, is so personable!

Because of my connection now with Danielle's Bridal, I was honored to model for a fun Jane Austin photo shoot at Thanksgiving Point!

Hannah Goodrich did an amazing job with my hair and make up for the shoot!  Tuxedo Junction provided a fabulous Tuxedo for Nicholas!  Thanksgiving Point - both their venue and decorations - has unparalleled facilities!  Terra Cooper is a true artist with her amazing photography!  And, of course, the gorgeous gown was provided by Danielle's Bridal! The cake for the shoot was provided by cake-a-licious and the wedding announcements from: Details by Ramey.  Amazing details for this shoot!

I had so much fun modeling this mock wedding - all the model wedding guests were so fun to meet and work with as well!

Thanks Janet for this fun opportunity!

Jane Austin fans will fall in love all over again!

Check out Terra's blog with the amazing pictures and background story:

Thanks, Terra!

It seems unreal that a week ago I was in Florida preparing for the final night of competition!

For all those who were unable to attend the pageant and who don't have a program book, I wanted to share with you the amazing ad that LookieLoo photography designed for me!

Special thanks again to all my sponsors for your support for the international event!

Thanks to the sponsors noted as well as the ones I obtained after this ad was submitted - Sugarhouse Banners and Caroline Heap (hair stylist)!

Congratulations to Miss International 2014- Samantha Riddle!

Tonight was the capstone of an unforgettable week representing my great state of Utah in the Miss International Pageant. There were so many talented and incredible women competing for the international title; I am grateful for the opportunity to have developed friendships with so many of them!
It has been a busy week filled with service, stress, rehearsals, and little sleep!

Congratulations to the new Miss International 2014 - Samantha Riddle! I know she will do great things with this new title and wish her the best!

While I am not bringing home the International title, I am thrilled to still have the remainder of this year to continue as Miss Utah International promoting youth service as this is such an important focus.

Thank you again to all the many people who have given me of their time, talents, resources and energy in preparing for the international competition - I so appreciate your generosity!

Special thanks to my 'pageant mom' who was a great mentor, hair curler, photographer, motivator and focuser for the week - I am so grateful Suzanne Plant was able to join me and my family in Jacksonville this week!

And - my intense week was made even better by the surprise of my fabulous boyfriend, who surprised me by showing up to support me on the final night!

This is a week for the record books!

Miss International 2014 Pageant Day 8 August 2nd

Tonight is finals!  Another day of rehearsals.

Tonight it gets narrowed down to the top 15 who do an onstage interview and then it's narrowed down to the top 10 who compete in Fitness, Fun Fashion, and Evening Gown.  Then they announce the 4 runner-ups and the new Miss International 2014!  Wish me luck tonight!
